RUBY+ED AT GLASTONBURY

I know that many of us are wishing we got Glastonbury tickets right? Well if you didn't  don’t worry, our Customer Service Assistant Sophie has just got back. As soon as Sophie walked through the door at 9 am I quizzed her. Even though she was a little tired, she couldn't wait to tell us all about her Glasto Experience.

Hey Sophie, how are you feeling?
I am very well thank you, wishing it was still the weekend though!

Okay, so let’s get stuck in. What was the highlight of the whole weekend?
The highlights of my weekend would have to be staying in a yurt and finally Glamping (glamorous camping). The yurt was based on the neighbouring farm to Glastonbury and we were spoiled with the option of a 24hour restaurant, bar and showers. The whole experience of Glastonbury is a highlight in itself, so much to do and see, so many great bands and performances to watch, I can’t name just one!

What band or artists surprised you?
We took a chance and went to watch Solange Knowles, and we were completely blown away. She was effortlessly cool and has the most amazing voice. She performed on The Park Stage and with her mix of deep soul and pop she had the entire crowd dancing as one.

What was your favourite performance?
I can’t really pin point just one favourite performance as Glastonbury never fails to disappoint! On Friday both Solange and Dizzee Rascal performed great sets and really set the mood for the next few days. Saturday saw the legends that are The Rolling Stones perform their long awaited headline slot, and a surprise set from Fatboy Slim at Arcadia was equally amazing due to the choreography and special effects.

Was there a general festival fashion?
The general feeling I got from this year’s festival was that anything goes. The fashion really ranges at Glastonbury from what the current trend is to dressing as a smurf. There were a lot of tea dresses and statement t-shirts being worn. But when the weather decided to upset everyone the wellies started to emerge.

Were there any festival outfits that stood out for you, if so what were they like?
I love statement pieces and I really love when people get creative and don’t follow the crowd. A oversized statement t-shirt teamed with short ankle boots and a parka really stood out for me as it looked comfy and stylish. I also loved what Caroline Flack wore; leopard print coat, over sized white shirt, black shorts, black ankle boots and a black hat with leopard print trim.  Where better to stand out than at one of the biggest music festivals in the world.

What statement items did you love, any in particular?
I really love a good parka and at a festival it is vital that you have a good coat for when the temperature drops. A parka preferably in a green/olive colour can be teamed with anything. I teamed both of mine with dresses, shorts and statement t-shirts and ankle boots or the wellies when the rain decided to arrive.

Did you bump shoulders with any celebs?
I seemed to be playing spot the celebrity this year at Glastonbury, as I managed to stand right next to Jade Jagger near the Greenpeace fields without noticing for about 15 minutes. As we made our way back towards The Other Stage we walked past Zoe Ball who confirmed our theory that Fatboy Slim ( her husband) was going to be playing a set this year.  I also managed to spot Caroline Flack who looked amazing.

What Ruby+Ed products did you take to the festival and why?
I like to be practical at festivals, I want to be comfy but I also want to look good. I really love the Indra Parka in Olive as it really is a festival staple, a parka you can wear with anything. The pockets all came in handy for hiding my camera, phone and anti bacterial hand gel (which is a must!!). I also took the Tribal T-Shirt in Charcoal which is so easy to wear and dress up or down.

Would you recommend any Ruby+Ed products for future festivals?
I would definitely recommend the items that I took - the Indra Parka in Olive or if you prefer it in black the one in Onyx. They are lightweight and protect you from the temperamental English weather and look great with any outfit. I also love the Tribal T-Shirt’s, you can choose between two colours Ecru and Charcoal and it is a real statement tee. This looked great with shorts, ankle boots and wellies when the weather turned briefly!

It sounds like you had an amazing time Sophie, and thank you for sharing and helping us to relive the Glastonbury experience.

The T-shirt Range is part of our pre-fall collection that will be launching online at www.rubyanded.co.uk on Monday 15th July.  We have four statement T-Shirts to launch starting with our Tribal Tee in both Charcoal and Ecru, a Tribal sweater in Jet and also our beautiful yet edgy Byzantine Tee in Charcoal. I hope you are just as excited for the new Pre-fall collection as we are.

Love Ruby+Ed x
