RACE FOR LIFE

After training for weeks, our girls at Ruby + Ed HQ have completed the Cancer Research 10k ‘Race for Life’. Well done girls! Raising over £645!!! Now time for a well-deserved rest and a cup of tea…

We asked the girls what advice they would give to anyone participating in the future:

• Don’t run too fast – keep a steady pace
• Invest in some good trainers
• Bring a bottle of water – you will need this throughout the race
• Sun block – for unexpected sunshine!
• Bumbag – to keep phone, jelly tots, car keys, etc
• Music and headphones

I asked our girls what they did after the race…“had a cold drink and a burger” Why not eh!

RUBY + ED BAKE OFF

RUBY & ED BAKE OFF

Here at HQ we all love a cake, so what better way to raise money for Cancer Research than to have our very own bake off?!

Raspberry cupcakes, chocolate flapjacks and coconut and lime cake were among the favourites tasted. With over £150 raised it was a tasty morning all round.

Three of our girls are also taking part in the Race for Life Challenge on the 1^st of June, good luck girls!

FEELING FLORAL

The Chelsea Flower Show is in full bloom and here at HQ we’re celebrating all things floral.  Spring is well underway and we can’t get enough of these botanical prints; stay in and slip into petal strewn slippers or step out in beautiful floral silk.

HOLIDAY MUST HAVES

Holiday season is fast approaching, here’s our guide on must have items for a perfectly packed suitcase:

• Prepare your outfits for travelling. EASTER NESTS

Get baking this Easter weekend, the chocolate nests that we love can be made using either cornflakes, shredded wheat or rice krispies so if you haven’t got time to pop to the supermarket then just use what is left in the cupboard! The children love getting involved so make sure you have an apron at the ready! 

Ingredients

100g of shredded wheat

200g of milk chocolate

50g of unsalted butter

2 tablespoon of golden syrup

A pack of mini eggs

Method

With your muffin tray, lay the large sheet of cling film over the tray and ease the film into each muffin case. Break and crumble the shredded wheat into smaller chunks and place in a bowl.

Break down the chocolate pieces into a bowl, place this over a saucepan of how water. Do not use boiling water and be careful that the bowl is not touching the hot water. Stir until melted and smooth then add the butter and syrup.

Heat gently to allow all the ingredients to mix together. When fully mixed, remove the bowl from the hot water and add in the shredded wheat. Stir thoroughly to ensure that all of the wheat is now covered in chocolate.

Spoon the mixture generously into the cling filmed holes, using the back of a tea spoon push the middle of each nest down to make a nest. Allow to cool, remove the nests from the muffin holes. Place mini eggs at the top of each nests and enjoy!
