Here at the Ruby+Ed office we truly love the products we create, so much so that we mix pieces with our own work wardrobe. This feature is dedicated to the members of our team who combine their own individual style with Ruby+Ed’s unique look.

AW13 PRESS DAY

Last week we held our AW13 press day right at the top of the scenic Sanderson Hotel Penthouse suite on Berners Street in London. With months of planning, afternoon’s paper maché-ing display heads and preparing the perfectly bound press packs, the team headed to London. Lots of glamorous fashion and lifestyle journalists came to admire our new collection of faux fur coats, clothing accessories and slippers, including visits from Glamour, The Guardian, Hello, Now and Liberty London Girl. 

Along with yummy nibbles and champagne, press received samples from the collection and got to chat to the Brand Director on her inspiration for the AW13 season – “My inner Magpie seeped into the collection adding the shimmer throughout, as did all the beautiful ethnic craftsmanship of China, India and Mexico”.

SS13 CAMPAIGN VIDEO

Last month we posted a story about our trip to the idyllic town of Rhonda, Spain for our SS13 shoot in which we also used as the back drop for our SS13 campaign film. We have been giving you sneak peeks of the film over the past couple of weeks, but the wait is now over and you can watch the full length video here.

HARRY AND IZZY JUDD CELEBRATE THEIR WEDDING IN RUBY+ED’S

Harry Judd (Mcfly drummer and Strictly winner 2011) and his wife Izzy were recently wed in a beautiful Christmas ceremony in Hertfordshire. 

For the bridal preparations Izzy requested pairs of our ballerina slippers for all the bridesmaids to wear before slipping into their gowns. She kindly sent us the exclusive photos taken for Hello! Magazine by photographer Sven Arnstein. 

All the bridesmaids point their toes like real ballerina dancers wearing the Cerise, Chalk Pink and Ice snuggle slippers. We’re glad to see our ballerinas are not just cosy but also rather glamorous!

AS SEEN IN... THE SUNDAY TIMES STYLE MAGAZINE

Over the weekend our Jaguar fax fur coat was featured in The Sunday Times STYLE magazine. 

Our faux fur coats new to the AW12 collection have made quite an impact this year in the press and celeb world. You may have noticed that Sienna Miller was recently spotted wearing our faux Mink hooded coat.

SS13 PRESS DAY

This month we launched our SS13 collection to press in the luxurious penthouse suite of The Sanderson Hotel, in London. Heading down from the countryside, the PR team set up the collection in the bedroom which provided the perfect setting to display the beautiful silk tops and dresses, luxury linen and cotton nightwear, super comfy suede and canvas pumps and soft towel lined slippers. 

Many top journalists came to see the largest clothing collection launched to date, including editors from Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Country Homes and Interiors and Elle Decoration. Guests were given goody bags to take away including a mini Eric giraffe desk companion and a lookbook recently shot in Ronda, Spain. It's a shame we have to wait until next March for the chance to buy pieces from the new range, but until then here is a sneak peek of the collection!

A SPRING WEEKEND IN PARIS

Recently we sent some of our SS12 collection to Thiara Moraes a fashion blogger who resides in Paris. She is a great fan of Ruby+Ed products and has modelled for us in past so she was delighted to send us some pictures of her wearing the collection around Paris. Thiara also sent us some feedback with the pictures of how she styled the outfits.          


"Since I was first asked to model for Ruby+Ed, on their AW10 shoot in Paris, I have developed a fondness for their romantic, Bohemian and super comfy style. So you can guess how thrilled I was to be sent some pieces from their SS12 collection to shoot for their blog, just in time for the Parisian Spring to arrive!

When the sun started to heat up and the whole city emerged to sit outside the cafes it was just the perfect day to get on my bike and show off wearing their Ria Coral silk blouse! Paired with simple cut-off shorts the blouse’s bright colour and Indian print are so intense it needed nothing else.

I also loved the floaty silk Aruna Dusty Rose dress they sent me. The fresh lavender colour makes me dream about summer vacations in the French Provence. Meanwhile I couldn’t resist putting on a straw hat and Ruby+Ed’s Shell Pink suede lace up pumps to go out and about in my favourite Paris spots. The day was a huge success!"

THE ANCIENT ART OF HAND PRINTING

Prevalent in India as early as the 12th century, this craft has been passed down through generations in order to create beautiful colourful printed garments. Each dye colour used in the print must be prepared, the fabric must be washed and stretched onto a printing table. Each print is applied to the fabric using carved wooden blocks by skilled artisans trained in this time consuming art. A wooden trolley with castor wheels holds the dye tray, this must be wheeled around the printing table, whilst applying consistent pressure to each stamp, each block must be lined up in accordance with the next to ensure a dovetail finish. This collection was born from a deep respect for this highly labour intensive painstaking process, this exacting art. Each piece is entirely unique, lovingly crafted to become an heirloom, a work of art because passion is always inspiring, reminding us that skill and imagination transcend boundaries.

Many of our items of clothing and nightwear from our SS12 collection have been hand printed. Below you can see pictures of an artisan in India working on the prints for our collection. Due to the nature of the hand printing process every piece is entirely unique and made in limited quantities, adding to their exclusivity.

MOTHER'S DAY -18th MARCH 2012

This Sunday is Mother's day and here at the Ruby+Ed office we were all wondering what we could get for our Mums to truly spoil them this year. So we decided to put together two gift sets from our new Spring Summer collection which we have also made available to you. All our gift sets include a branded Ruby+Ed gift box, a pair of slippers and a matching make up bag.
