SS14 SHOOT: BEHIND THE SCENES

To set the scene for our Spring Summer shoot the team headed to a hidden treasure in the Derbyshire countryside. Elvaston Castle, a Gothic Revival masterpiece that was designed in the 1800’s and was home to the 3^rd Earl of Harrington. The country house is most famous for the Grade II listed gardens, first established in the 1830’s by one of the most influential gardeners of the century, William Barron.

This season we bring you our tried and tested pieces from our collections, re-imagined in crisp colours and new styles, brimming with quality craftsmanship.

Our classic satin finish nylon parka’s looked stunning against the woodland landscape. With lighter and brighter tones of Putty and Bark the raincoat added practicality and style to the look we were going for.

After coming across the boat house and lake we fell in love with the view. Our Ebony Jersey Chemise floated in the warm Summer breeze. Proving to be the perfect length for a beach cover up or a dip in the lake it will keep you cool in the summer sun.

Our slipper collection felt right at home in the Old English Garden, surrounded by a sea of colourful flowers and fresh green leaves it created the perfect background for our Impressions and Linen Ivory bow mules.

APRIL SHOWERS

April can be a difficult month for outfit planning.

SS14 HAS LAUNCHED

Reflecting on a summer that never quite began, we begin our next story.

The new collection represents the true British summer, we bring you tried and tested pieces from our collections re-imagined in new colours and materials.

Protect yourself from the unruly elements with our Mazu Parka’s. Our classic satin finish nylon parka has a concealed Velcro hood and folds into an easy to pack away bag. This practical raincoat is available in earthy tones including Putty and Bark, with a variety of styles including a shorter jacket and long line reversible parka.

For the transitional season we bring you reversible gilets with faux fur on one side and a pattern on the other. With two styles available in Ikat shimmer and Aztec Stone you can get two styles for the same price!

To keep you comfortable on your adventures this summer we have created an exceptional range of sophisticated and easy to wear outdoor pumps. Different from the mass produced styles our canvas pumps include individual branding to each shoe, a toe suede cap and a durable rubber sole that will last.

PANCAKE DAY

Don’t forget it is Pancake Day on Tuesday 4^th March! If you are anything like us here at Ruby+Ed HQ, we like to add chocolate to anything we can. So here is what we are making this year.

Chocolate chip pancakes (Serves 12)

Ingredients 1 1/4 cups flour
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons melted butter
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

1. In a small saucepan combine both the butter and milk, place on a low heat until butter has melted. Leave to cool a little and then combine the flour, sugar, baking power and salt. Mix well.

2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs together and then add the milk mixture. Add the dry ingredients and mix just until barely blended, then add the chocolate chips and mix them in well.
3. Preheat the frying pan and add 1 teaspoon of butter and melt until bubble. To cook the pancakes use around 3 tablespoons of batter in the frying pan, leave to cook until bubbly on top and golden brown on the bottom, flip the pancake and do again on the same side.
4. Repeat till all the batter is used and serve hot!

TRANSITIONAL LOOKS

Christmas has been and gone and you have realised that we still have to wait another three months before summer graces us with its presence. Winter is still here, with a cold breeze and occasional sunny spells this makes it difficult for us fashion lovers. We tell ourselves that it is time to buy that gorgeous faux fur scarf in the sale because I will wear it in Winter and spring.

As usual Alexa Chung has already mastered the art of transitional dressing. Woolly hat check! Woolly coat, check!

Miss Palermo receives full marks for this outfit. We absolutely love the long fur trim and we want every item she is wearing! 

Sarah Jessica Parka was the style icon for city dressing and she is still living up to that title today. Dressed in an black ensemble with a practical pair of gloves to the pocket and slouched beanie you just can’t go wrong. 

Knee high boots are great for cold weather but be careful of the ice and slippery patches! What we are really lusting over is Binky’s faux fur stole. It is a great accessory to wear throughout Winter and Spring as you can pair it up with a chunky wool coat or even a lighter cashmere cardigan.
